Youths & Sports Commissioner, Yemi Lawal Lauds Osun Youths, Calls For More Active Engagement In The Creative Industry, Sports and ICT

The Osun State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Yemi Lawal, has lauded Osun youths services in moving the state forward, while calling for more active participation in the creative industry, sports and ICT by acquiring more skills that would make them self-reliant, OSUNREPORTERS NEWS gathered.

Yemi Lawal, in a virtual engagement with the youth of Osun on the occasion of International Youths Day 2020 in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Wednesday, also challenged the youths to strive toward a better society by imbibing skills that would make them assets to the society.

Osun Youths Commissioner advised the youths of the state to shun social vices, adding that the sustainability of the current positive changes by the government depends on the youths.

He stated further that the state government of Osun under the leadership of governor Oyetola has being engaging youths of the state in many of its activities for positive productivity such as Sports, youth empowerment programme, youth engagement in politics, while the ongoing recruitment into teaching profession which was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic will also benefit the youths.

“Today, I join the rest of the world to mark the International Youth Day and I acknowledge the remarkable contributions of youths in Osun to the creation of wealth, promotion of good governance as well the security of lives and property of our citizens.

“The services of our youths in the creative industry, Sports and ICT who continue to attract great honour to Nigeria in the community of Nations are also worthy of applause.

“I also encourage our youths to embrace appropriate skills acquisition, shun drug abuse, engage in more volunteerism and positively engage with their counterparts across social, tribal or religious divides in order to build a cohesive, greater Nation.


“While celebrating our accomplishments as youths, we must not forget to acknowledge the efforts of the government of the state of Osun in involving the youths in its activities, while we must not also shy away from reminding ourselves that there is still so much ground to be covered and so much more work to be done to guarantee prosperity for the greater number of our people and restore our dear state to the path of honour,” he said.
