WOMEN IN POLITICS: The political record of first female Vice Chairman of Osogbo Prime Council, Hon Sherifat Adelabu

Her political journey started within the progressive cycle as a card Carrying member since the era of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now the All Progressives Congress (APC).

She was a member of the Caretaker Committee of the Osogbo Local Government appointed by the former Governor Aregbesola between 2017 and 2018.

Hon. BJ general called by her admirers, has positively touches many lives within her constituency, such as sponsoring some students who are financially incapacitated to further their education into the higher institutions, rendering selfless services to assist some people in setting up their small scale businesses.

Hon. Bolaji has engaged in many community services, advocate for gender equality and promoting the agenda of progressive government at all time, such as; renovation of the community water pipe in Ward-7 Osogbo local government, women empowerment, building of public toilet within her constituency, provision of delivery pack for pregnant women, and attending to individual challenges in her own capacity.

The Osogbo Prime Council woman Parliamentarian has participated in both political, community and extra curricular activities. She is the state woman Coordinator of De-Yong Mandate Group; Osun Chairperson of Contact and Mobilization Committee of De-Yong Mandate Group (DYMG); Woman Mobilization Committee Member for Buhari/Osinbajo 2019 presidential election; 4+4 group member and Osun Election Monitoring Committee on registration of members; Coordinator for 4+4 projects in Osogbo local government; State Chairperson of Contact and Mobilization Committee of De-Young Mandate Group; Chairperson of De-Yong Mandate Group for registration of new members since 2012 till date.

She was part of the Osogbo Oroki Day 2017 Planning Committee. Member; De-Yong Mandate Group Social/Welfare Committee; Member of Ile-Ife Chapter of Hockey Club; Member of Lagos State Arsenal Fancy Club.
She has attended many seminars, capacity buildings, workshops within Nigeria and in the diaspora on skill acquisition, women in politics, local government administration, gender equality, cultural and home training.

Hon. Sherifat Mobolaji Adelabu is the current and first female Vice Chairman of Osogbo Local Government, she is currently representing the people of Ward-7 of Osogbo Local Government in the Parliament of the Osogbo Prime Council.

Her political career has made her visited Accra, the capital city of Ghana on a capacity building on Local Government Administration.

She look up to some political gladiators as mentors and leaders, such as; Hon. Olarewaju Abiola, Prince Gboyega Famodun, Alh Abdulahi Enilolobo, Hon Kehinde Joseph among others.
