Witnesses Afraid to Testify Against Baba Ijesha in Court
The Lagos State Prosecution Team has told a Special Criminal Court in Ikeja that one of the witnesses is scheduled to testify against Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James alias Baba Ijesha. afraid to testify in court.
The state’s attorney, Mr. Yusuf Sule, made the announcement on Friday 12 November 2021, citing the absence of two witnesses who were scheduled to testify against the actor in a sexual harassment case.
“Mr. President, the first witness is a police officer. He cannot go to court today because he has been transferred and needs permission from where he was sent.
“The second witness cannot go to court; he was afraid, he was afraid to go to court.
“Lord, we will make sure that all the witnesses are arraigned in court next week on Friday,” the prosecutor said.
Following the hearing, Judge Oluwatoyin Taiwo adjourned the case to November 19 for further proceedings.
However, according to reports James is facing six counts of child molestation, child abuse, attempting to seduce him by sexually assaulting him.
The alleged offenses are in violation of sections 135, 259, 262, 263, and 262 of the Lagos State Penal Code, 2015.
So far, five witnesses have testified for the prosecutors. They include the suspect and her nursing mother, actress and comedian Damilola Adekoya better known as Princess.
Others are pediatrician, Mrs Olabisi Ajayi-Kayode; doctor, Dr Aniekan Makanjuola; and policeman ASP Wahab Kareem.
