“We have no mandate on HND admissions — JAMB

Published

on

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted claims made by some HND graduates that it is responsible for….their inability to participate in the National Youth Service Corps scheme.

JAMB stressed that it has no authority or control over HND admissions, as its mandate only covers undergraduate admissions and National Diploma courses.

,,,,,,,,,While responding to some claims on Monday, the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, cited Section 5(2) of its establishing law, which explicitly states that JAMB is not responsible for examinations or selection processes for postgraduate courses or other tertiary institution programmes.

,,,,,,,,,JAMB further explained that some students were admitted to National Diploma programmes without its knowledge, and it only condoned and endorsed those admissions.

According to him, “Most of the students were reported to have been admitted into their institutions for the National Diploma without the knowledge of……the Board. With this, the Board graciously condoned and endorsed the said admission for the ND programme, and that was the only relationship with such candidates.

,,_______“Their subsequent admission to HND is unknown and irrelevant to the mandate of the Board. As such, accusing the Board of issues it has no mandate over is preposterous.

_____…..;;;;;“Some of these candidates have crossed the lines of criminality, which the Board will soon appropriately address,” the Board said.
