Two State Commissioners, LG Chairmen Resign
Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon. Adewale Adeyinka and his counterpart in Ede South, Hon Lukman Afolabi Abeeresoose have resigned from their appointments.
The council caretaker chairmen renounced their positions to enable them prepare in the forthcoming local Government election.
Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) had fixed February 22, 2025 for the conduct of the local Government election in the state.
A reliable source within the government circle revealed that almost all the council chairmen have resigned in order to prepare for February 22, council polls.
In another development, two Commissioners have resigned from the Abia State Executive Council.
According to reports, the Commissioners were earlier reported to be sacked but the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary in a statement said they resigned voluntarily.
Though no reason was given for the resignation, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alex Otti, Mr Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, in a statement named the Commissioners to include, Mr Chima Oriaku, Science and Technology and Prof Monica Ironkwe, of Agriculture ministry.
According to him, “The following Cabinet Members of Abia State Government have tendered their resignation letters to the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti.
,,,,,“They are: Mr. Chima Oriaku – Commissioner for Science and Technology. Prof. Monica Ironkwe – Commissioner for Agriculture.
“The Executive Governor thanked them for their service and sacrifice to the State and wish them well in their future endeavours”.
,,,,Before now, the Commissioner for Health Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, was suspended to make way for an investigation of her activities.
