Two Prominent Nigerians Slump, Die In One Day

The sudden death of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Joseph Egbunike on Tuesday afternoon.

,,,,,He was reported to have slumped and died in his office before he was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.

…..The cause of his death has yet to be ascertained but a Police source hinted that his death may not be unconnected with obesity.

,,,,,The late DIG who hailed from Onitsha, Anambra state was the head of the Inspector-General of Police investigator panel probing the embattled DCP Abba Kyari following the U-S indictment in the $1m bribery scandal involving a UAE based Nigerian fraudster, Abbas Ramon.

….Until his death, DIG Egbunike was in charge of the Force Intelligence Bureau FIB. Prior to his appointment as DIG in 2020, Egbunike was the head of the Police Finance Department.

In another development, a former player of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Justice Christopher, is dead.

According to sources, the former international midfielder slumped in his hotel located in Gwolshe, off Tudunwada Ring road, Jos in the early hours of Wednesday.

Close associates of the former player revealed that Christopher was managing high blood pressure, thought to be mild.

The deceased was seen on Tuesday in company of his friends full of life and never showed any sign of serious health challenge.


Though the Plateau police command is yet to confirm the death, his body has been deposited at the Plateau Specialists hospital.
