Two Greensprings teachers won teacher of the year award

Two teachers from Greensprings School have been nominated as state champions at the 2021 Maltina Teacher of the Year award. One of the teachers, Mr. Lanre Oguntoye, won the Lagos State Footballer of the Year award, while the other, Mr. David Oluwadara, who recently joined the school, won in Osun State. Speaking on the nomination process, Oguntoye, who is also the 10th national champion, said this year’s edition focuses on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adding that he was happy to win the state title. .
He said, “The process started in April when interested teachers across the country filled out questionnaires and presented their papers on their curriculum. The publication focuses specifically on the understanding of teachers of the SDGs and how they relate to academics.

The quality of our curriculum and teaching philosophy has also been tested, and we have been assessed on how we have developed our lessons in line with the SDGs. An important part of this process is peace education, which takes into account how teachers teach students about cultural diversity to maintain peace in the community. “It’s exciting, and I’m so glad we both from Greensprings School won the state championship award,” he said.
Hailing the teachers, Mrs Lai Koiki, the school’s executive director, said they had won the state championship for their commitment to the profession.


She also added that the Greensprings School community is very proud of these teachers, and we are proud of them. Their courage in doing what they knew to do well and doing it wholeheartedly is commendable. I am sure this award is commendable for their passion for the teaching profession and their commitment to giving it to their students for free. I am happy that their introduction to the competition and the extra effort they put into their work have yielded positive results. ”
The Maltina Teachers ‘Award is an annual event organized by the Breweries of Nigeria to celebrate the Teachers’ Day in the country. The state champion was awarded ₦ 500,000 each.
