Tragic As Popular Coach Shot Dead In Front Of Daughter
Edgar Paez, the president of the Colombian second-division football team Tigres de Bogota, was tragically shot and killed after his club suffered a defeat in a match on Saturday.
The 63-year-old man, driving home from the game, was shot four times in the presence of his daughter, who was seated in the passenger seat.
This heartbreaking event unfolded as Paez was on his way back from the club’s Metropolitano de Techo stadium.
Despite being swiftly taken to the Mederi Clinic, Paez, who sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and skull, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
In a statement issued after the president’s passing, Tigres expressed profound sadness and shock, announcing, “With deep sadness and dismay we report the murder of the president of our institution, Dr. Edgar Paez Cortes.”
The statement continued, “This unfortunate incident took place today when he was returning to his home after the match played against Atletico FC.”
