Three Arrested For Displaying Yoruba Nation Flag In Osun Market

Osun State Police Command have arrested three Yoruba Nation agitators for displaying their flags at the Obada Market in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.

According to the command, the suspects, Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, Joy Faseyeku, and Alabede Janet, were apprehended on August 27, 2024, about 2:00pm.

In a statement from the Acting Police Spokesman, Emmanuel Giwa-Alade, 61-year-old Fagbuyi, a native of Akure, Ondo State capital, was addressing market vendors to promote the Yoruba Nation when he was arrested.

,,,,,,He reportedly encouraged traders to renounce their allegiance to Nigeria, claiming the country ceased to exist after 2014.

,,,,,,He was also accused of displaying the Yoruba Nation flag during his speech.

Following preliminary investigations, the case was referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, leading to the subsequent arrest of 63-year-old Joy Faseyiku and 64-year-old Alabede Janet in Osogbo and Ikire respectively.

,,,,,,In another development, five members of an armed robbery gang were arrested for allegedly robbing residents in Adeeke, Iwo town.

Giwa-Alade shared details during a parade of suspects at the police headquarters in Osogbo.


,,,,,He reported that the armed robbers struck on August 14 at around 9:30 pm, stealing two mobile phones, N20,000, ATM cards, and an army ID card from their victims.
