The uper chamber of the Nigerian National Assembly has revealed that it would receive the minimum wage bill after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The senate spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu, revealed this when asked about the latest development on minimum wage, saying “ The President will likely send the Wage ward bill after the Sallah break.”

It should be recalled that President Tinubu in his Democracy Day broadcast on Wednesday, promised to forward a bill on the new minimum wage to the National Assembly soon.

However, the Senate on Tuesday adjourned plenary for the Sallah break and is due to resume on July 2.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), have called on the President, Bola Tinubu, not to present any figure regarding the minimum wage bill to the National Assembly without consulting the organised labour and members of the Organised Private Sector (OPS).

NLC President, Joe Ajaero and his counterpart from TUC, Festus Osifo, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday on the sideline of the ongoing International Labour Conference at the Palais du Nation in Geneva, Switzerland.
