Sacked Abuja Imam gets new appointment

,,,,,Sheikh Nuru Khalid, the sacked Chief Imam of the National Assembly Legislators’ Quarters Mosque, has remarked that the mosque‘s management committee terminating his appointment was a necessary price he had to pay for relating with the miseries of the public and speaking truth to power.

Sheikh Khalid stated this in an exclusive interview with newsmen in Abuja on Monday night, adding that his dismissal had not deterred him.

He also said that the Management Committee of a new Jum’mat Mosque behind the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Quarters in Abuja has nominated him to lead the congregation as of Friday, April 8. Sheikh Nuru Khalid said “My sack is a reflection of how Nigeria is today.” Many people use religion as a cloak to engage in all kinds of nefarious activities. ….“Such people would go to any length to remove people like me, who are pro-masses and bold enough to speak the truth to power on behalf of Nigerians who have no voice.”

….“By Almighty Allah’s Grace, I will be leading my new congregation this Friday, because we need a platform to operate as clerics.”


“Behind the CBN Quarters in Abuja, we built a Jum’mat mosque, and I will now be leading the congregation there.”
