Real reason Tinubu emerged as Nigeria’s next president – Gov Masari
,,,,,Bola Tinubu, a former Lagos governor and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged as Nigeria’s President-elect in the presidential election held on February 25, 2023.
According to Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, Tinubu won the election because APC members turned out en-masse with their supporters to vote for him.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu the winner of the election on Wednesday morning, following a closely contested race with his closest rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Masari, who spoke with newsmen in Katsina shortly after the declaration of the results, said that APC’s victory was due to the party’s strong mobilization strategy and effective voter education. He commended the efforts of APC members and supporters, who he said worked tirelessly to ensure that Tinubu emerged as the President-elect.
,,,,,“We have delivered because we turned out en-mass with our supporters and voted Bola Tinubu as our President,” Masari said. “I am still appealing to our supporters to come out in large numbers and elect Umar Dikko-Radda, to succeed me as next Governor of Katsina State in the Gubernatorial election slated for March 11.”
Masari also applauded the efforts of INEC for conducting a free and fair election, despite the challenges and security threats that marred the process. He called on the electoral body to remain steadfast and not to listen to unpatriotic individuals who may try to undermine its integrity.
“The success of this election is a testament to the resilience of our democracy and the commitment of all stakeholders to its sustainability,” Masari said. “I urge INEC to continue to discharge its duties with utmost professionalism and to resist any attempt to compromise its independence and credibility.”
,,,,,The announcement of Tinubu as the President-elect has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some expressing optimism about his leadership qualities and others expressing concern about his health and age. Tinubu, who is 80 years old, has faced criticism from some quarters over his age and perceived health issues, which some say may impact his ability to effectively govern the country.
However, supporters of Tinubu have dismissed such concerns, saying that he is a seasoned politician and a visionary leader who has the experience and capacity to lead Nigeria to greater heights.
,,,,,,,As the country prepares for the transition of power from the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari, to Tinubu in May, there is growing anticipation about the policies and programs that the new administration will unveil to address the myriad of challenges facing the country, including insecurity, unemployment, and economic downturn.
