Prophet allegedly raped 8-month-pregnant woman during deliverance
Police detectives from Ondo State Command arrested a prophet, Festus James, for allegedly raping an eight-month-pregnant woman in the village of Agbabu via Ore, in the Odigbo council area of Ondo State.
Parading the suspects alongside others in Akure, command spokesperson Funmi Odunlami said the pregnant woman was 22 years old.
According to Odunlami, the revivalist who came from Ibadan for a three-day awakening raped the woman under the pretext of delivering her.
She said: “On November 13, 2021, a Festus James from Ibadan in Oyo State traveled to Agbabu village via Ore, claimed to be a prophet and the Holy Spirit commanded him to ” have a 3-day Holy Spirit revival in a village church.
“The next day the Prophet claimed to have seen a vision of a 22-year-old woman who was 8 months pregnant and told her to wait until after the program.
“She took the pregnant woman to one of the rooms in the mission house under the pretext of delivering her from an evil spirit and had carnal knowledge of her.
“The suspect confessed to committing the crime.
Speaking to reporters, the suspect confessed to having sex with the woman and did not rape her.
