A son of Osogboland, Prince Adeniyi Adebayo has urged the people of the Osun State capital to appeal to the traditional ruler of the community, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, on the plans to appoint the NURTW Osogbo Branch 1 Chairman, Kazzem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, as a Chief in Osogboland.

Adeniyi, who called on all Osogbo leaders and elders, including sons and daughters of Osogboland, the Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU), and other notable groups in the town to rise to the occasion, said the monarch must stop his proposed decision in the interest of the continuous safety, peace, and growth of the state capital.

Prince Adebayo made the call during a meeting of concerning stakeholders on Tuesday.

He stated that he has come to his decision to appeal to all relevant parties to take swift look into Ataoja’s decision and intervene to prevent future catastrophe after holding meetings with several concerned parties and having taken cognisance of the dent and security threat Asiri Eniba’s appointment might bring not just to Osogboland, but also to the name of the state government, under the leadership of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and the possible continuation of incessant blood bath between his camp and other rival camps in the state capital.

According to him, several online platforms had earlier reported that Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, the Ataoja of Osogboland had concluded plans to officially install the NURTW Osogbo branch 1, Asiri Eniba as the Gbobaniyi of Osogboland by December of this year, a decision which has sparked both criticism and condemnation from many quarters.

Prince Adebayo added that while many have said they do not take offence in the traditional ruler’s appointment of a non -indigene of Osogboland as Chief Gbobaniyi, but are concerned about the antecedents of the nominee and in such light are describing the Kings intention as not only unspeakable, but also bizarre.

He said, “Critically analyzing the relationship between Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, the Ataoja of Osogboland, and Asiri Eniba (NURTW Osogbo branch 1 chairman), the appointment of Asiri Eniba as Chief, Gbobaniyi of Osogboland, begs for answer as regards to what respect could Asiri Eniba be giving to Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, the Ataoja of Osogboland that qualified him for Chieftaincy title consideration in the Palace that other reputable indigenes and none indigenes with attestable moral standing are not according to Kabiyesi Ataoja.

“If you don’t know who Asiri Eniba is, his antecedents, kindly conduct your independent investigation on Kazzem Oyewale (AKA Asiri Eniba), the Chairman of Osogbo NURTW, Old-garage, who is an indigene of Ode-omu town.

“I foresee a severe consequence if the King’s decision eventually scale through.

“With all due respect to the King, I don’t think Kabiyesi Ataoja has weighed the probability of this choice leading to regrettable consequences duly.

“One does not attempt to tame a wild without considering the danger it poses and also put in place adequate emergency measures. Pondering on this has left me with further questions that I’m certain is burning on the minds of the majority;

“Does Ataoja possess the power to tame Asiri Eniba if he chooses to turn against him or turn against Osogboland in the future? Is Ataoja only considering how humble, beneficial or loyal Asiri is to him presently without putting the future into consideration?

“Is Ataoja doing this to imitate how some politicians use thugs for political purposes and still hold reign over them? Forgetting that politicians have all the necessary required resources (Government power) to apprehend, discipline, or eliminate any thug who poses a threat to them.

“Of what benefit is this appointment to Osogboland? Is it just about Ataoja’s personal benefits and interest playing out here? Are there no other pressing matters affecting Osogoland than this appointment?”

He added, “Many would say Kabiyesi’s action is tantamount to setting a very bad precedent

“No king has ever recruited NURTW members into the Palace without the action causing a chain of regrettable atrocities

“Let’s take the alleged case of Baba Timi of Ede VS Ede thugs crisis for instance:

“There are strong allegations that Baba Timi recognized, empowered, supported, patronised and accommodated those thugs in Edeland and those thugs later saw this as an opportunity to ascend the position of authority that is high enough to challenge the Dynasty.

“Going by this narration as the cause behind the growth and strength of thuggery in Ede, you will therefore agree that Ataoja Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun is about to make similar mistake to that of HRM, Oba (Dr) Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the Timi of Edeland that led to thugs taking over the town and other security challenges being faced in Ede today .
“To date, thugs are the ones calling the shots in Edeland, and sadly Ede is now known as the headquarter of hoodlums and thuggery as well as decipher of law.

“Reacting on the allegation that some politicians who are indigenes of Osogboland are also keeping mum over this egregious act simply because Asiri Eniba serves their political interest and hopefully he will do so at the poll; “I can’t really confirm nor deny the allegation, but I believe there’s no fire without smoke, and we are observing everyone’s body language at this critical stage.

“The fact is that Osogbo has not been safe for a while now, not until recent, with several cult clash, Okada snatching here and there, thanks to the new Commissioner of Police, CP Olokode and the Amotekun. We have Osogbo sons and daughters and none indigenes working tirelessly to safeguard the town, the appropriate thing would have been for Ataoja of Osogboland to commend them, not adding more wood to the existing burning fire with his choice of candidate to confer with Gbobaniyi chieftaincy title.

“In this short period of time the announcement was made I have heard people saying is Ataoja trying to instill fear in the heart of the people of Osogboland by appointing Asiri Eniba, people are panicking already and can’t even express or criticise this appointment out of fear of being attacked by the chieftaincy nominee.

“A drastic reversal has to made now that the whole thing is still a mere proposed plan, Ilu-Osogbo ko ni baje o,” Prince Adebayo stated.
