Police parades 20 Suspected armed robbers, others in Osun

No fewer than twenty suspected robbers among other crimes were paraded by the Osun State Command of the Nigerian Police Force on Friday in Osogbo.

Addressing journalists, Osun State Police Spokesperson CSP Yemisi Opalola narrates the incidentsthat led to the arrest of the twenty suspects.

The following are the brief of the recent successes recorded in the Osun police Command: On 6/11/2024 at about 10:45pm, one Ogunsola Roqeeb ‘m’ and Adewale Temitope ‘m’ now late went to the shop of Adeyemi Adijat ‘f’ of Asumon junction, Ede and stole one bottle of action bitter gin, one pack of Benson cigarettes and three bottles of maltina. The Adeyemi Adijat raised alarm and also called some hoodlums around the Area; the hoodlums came out in large number and beat Adewale Temitope to death. Sequel to the arrest and prosecution of the notorious cult leader Owoeye Olabode a.k.a. “Bode Itaapa”, most members of the confraternity relocated from Iwara to Igangan, where they have been terrorizing residents in that area. Consequently, on the 11/11/2024 at about 2330hrs, upon receiving credible intelligence, the operatives of the Anti-kidnapping squad swung into action and combed the entire community where the suspect Bakare Saheed ‘m’ was arrested while he was unlawfully cutting down commercial trees around Igangan forest without the consent of the innocent owners.One of the victims stated that “Ewe” came to his farm along with others cultists fully armed with dangerous weapons, beat him up mercilessly, while threatening to shoot him with a gun and ordered him to leave his farm. He had no choice due to his safety but to leave the farm or be killed.During the interrogation, the suspect confessed to the killing of one late Tafa, a member of Eiye Confraternity sometimes in the year 2020, under the instruction of Bode Owoeye a.k.a. “Bode Itaapa”. He confessed that Bode Owoeye gave him the barrel gun which he used to perpetrate the act and collected it from him after the operation. He stated that in 2014, he was initiated into Ave confraternity by one Solo Iwara, Bode Itaapa, Bisi Iwara and Allen J. (now late).He further claimed that all their weapons were in the custody of one Akanni, who is still at large.Meanwhile, the suspect will be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.

The determination of the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Umar to rid Osun State of the activities of cultist since taking over the command has been a fight of “No retreat, no surrender”. As a result of these efforts, most cultists had fled the State; some had been arrested and prosecuted.Consequently, after the gruesome killing of three innocent victims by one Awe Mayowa a.k.a. “Bishop Apase” and his gang over a drug deal around Ilesa sometime in September 2024, the operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Squad owing to credible intelligence swung into action and raided several black spots and in the process, arrested one Oladele Sunday ‘m’ while two locally made single barrel pistols were recovered in his possession.Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the said Oladele Sunday ‘m’ a.k.a. Okoro previously belonged to the cult gang under one Rasheed a.k.a. “Oko-Ilu” who was terrorizing Ede town and its environs. Consequent upon the arrest and prosecution of Rasheed a.k.a. “Oko-Ilu”, Okoro who fled Ede town subsequently relocated to Ilesha and regrouped with another deadly Eiye cult group headed by one Awe Mayowa a.k.a. “Bishop Apase”.Meanwhile, intelligence is still ongoing to arrest Bishop Apase and his cohorts for prosecution.

On the 29th September, 2024, credible intelligence was received that some armed hoodlums who specialized in robbery/terrorizing Ife/Modakeke area were around. At about 2000hrs, Joint team of police patrol men and local vigilante mounted surveillance on the area and on sighting the police, the hoodlums escaped to different directions. After they were given a hot chase, one Olamilekan Olayinka ‘m’ was later arrested.During the interrogation, the suspect confessed that they actually came to Ile-Ife to take advantage of the festival to perpetrate the act. Consequently, the suspect led the Police detectives to Akala, Mushin area of Lagos State but the syndicate fled on sighting the presence of the Police.Meanwhile, efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects and they will be prosecuted accordingly. 5.

This deals with a case of Conspiracy and Armed Robbery incidents along Ilesha-Osu expressway by a gang of armed suspected robbers on motorists and passengers in which the gang robs them of their belongings such as jewelries, different type of Handsets, Money and other valuables. In one of the incidents, a bus driver was shot on his leg but was subsequently rushed to Seventh-day Adventist hospital in Ile-Ife where he received treatment. Consequently, the DPO at Moore Division Ile-Ife led his patrol team together with members of the local vigilante group and arrested one Olajide Kareem ‘m’ in the bush.Having received the report, the suspect confessed that he was member of a five-man gang of the armed robbers who came from Ikorodu area in Lagos state to perpetrate their acts in Osun State.Subsequently, intelligence driven investigation and strategic tactical operations led the operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Squad on investigation activities to Majidun area Ikorodu, Lagos State where the duo of Mike Emmanuel and Godwin Emmanuel were arrested. The two suspects upon their arrest confessed to the offences.During the investigation, one of the female victims about 65years old, identified Kareem Olajide as the person that raped her while she was accompanying her sick husband to the hospital before their vehicle was stopped at gun point. Consequently, this incident led to death of her sick husband on the spot.Meanwhile, the suspects will be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.

On 9th January, 2024 at about 2200hrs, the complainant reported that an armed robbery gang robbed him at his residence and went away with his belongings such as: Toyota Camry 2013 model valued at (#10.5million), iphone 13-promax valued at (#850,000), one ipad valued at (#1.2million), one loader valued at (#50,000), Cannon 17pron valued at (#250,000), one P.S game with pad valued at (#170,000). Thereafter, they transferred the sum of #1.5million from their account into one Kuda account. In the same vein, another victim also reported that on 25/01/2024 at about 2300hrs, he was attacked by an unknown armed gang and they robbed him of the following items: his Toyota Venza car unregistered valued (#13.5million), iphone 14 promax, Nokia 105, and iphone XR. The case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation.Having received the report, the vehicles were subjected for technical analysis. On 28th August 2024, the operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Squad tracked down and recovered the Toyota Camry and Venza Car in possession of the buyer one Abba Adam Mustafa in Abuja. During the investigation, the suspect confessed that one Gambo Dugje based in Lagos gave him the three vehicles namely: (1) one unregistered Toyota Venza ans (2) white Toyota Camry spider 2012 model, (3) one Lexus ES 350 black (yet to be recovered).The detectives swiftly went to Lagos State on investigation activities and arrested one Gambo Dugje ‘m’ who confessed that he collected the three cars from one Lawan Yaro ‘m’. On 14th October 2024, the operatives located and arrested Lawan Yaro ‘m’ in Lagos State. He admitted to collecting the cars from one Segun who he knew to be an armed robbers and who has already been arrested and charged to court in Lagos State and gave it to Gambo who linked up with the buyers for the cars.Further investigation revealed that, Segun and his armed robbery syndicate had given out several stolen cars to Lawan Yaro and Gambo Dugje. In the process, one Ford Edge Jeep with Reg No: AAA 945 JH and Hyundai car were with Aliu Muhammed and Abass Abogu who are the agents who usually look for the buyers. Therefore on 12/11/20204, one Abdullahi Audu was arrested and the said Ford Edge Jeep was recovered by the detectives. Diligently conducted investigation led to recovery of KIA Cerato Saloon car with Reg. No: AGL 101 FZ and one Toyota Camry Big Daddy with Reg. No: KSF 693 JA.The suspects will be charged to court on the completion of the investigations.

On the 31st May, 2024 at about 1430hrs, One Amole Muiz ‘m’ and Adegoke Gbenga ‘m’ of Wole–Oke Street, Esa-Oke reported that unknown gunmen in military uniform came in a Honda Pilot Jeep, waylaid them and took them into a bush along Ekiti road.

Subsequently, they forced the victim to transfer the sum of #3million from their bank account into one Monie-point account before they were released. Similarly, one Olawumi Oluwaseun and Ishola both ‘m’ were also attacked by the same armed gunmen and robbed them of their iphone 12 and iphone 13 respectively, valued at #1.25million before they were also freed.Having received this report, detectives from the Anti-kidnapping Squad through technical and intelligence analysis, identified the account name to belong to one David Agbebaku ‘m’ who was later confirmed to already been arrested by the Police in Oyo state. Further analysis led the detectives to the arrest one Anthony Emmanuel ‘m’ in Ibadan. The suspect confessed to be a dismissed soldier and confessed to have conspired with David and two others who are also dismissed military men, to carry out the operations on the victims.The suspect was identified by the victims as one the members of the armed robbery gang that perpetrated the offence.Meanwhile, the suspect will be charged to court accordingly.


On the 20th October, 2024 at about 0400hrs, the complainant reported that some unknown armed robbers attacked him in his residence at Oyedele’s compound Fiditi Area, Ikire, Osun State and carted away the following items: (1) one Samsung phone valued #300,000.00k (2) one TECNO phone valued #33,000.00k (3) one Plasma T.V valued #250,000 and (4) the sum of #11,700.In the process, one Ibrahim Salako Raji was arrested very close to the scene of robbery in possession of a Dane gun. During the interrogation, he stated that the Dane gun was allocated to him by one Jagun who employed him to guard a store at Apomu town, he however denied of being a members of armed gang that robbed the complainant. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to crack the case and bring the culprits to book accordingly.
