The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Phoebestar Royalty Schools, Engr Group Captain Olusegun Fanu has appealed to parents and guardians to make use of the ongoing school holiday to pay much attention to the academic progress of their wards.

Dr Fanu who gave the advice at the 9th Prize Giving, Graduation Ceremony and 10th Anniversary of the school in Osogbo, advised some parents/guardians not to exclusively leave the training and upbringing of their child(ren) to the school alone. He said the combination of efforts will produce a synergy.

OsunReporters News gathered that Phoebestar Royalty Schools is one of the leading private schools in Osogbo that offers academic excellence in Creche, Nursery, Basic, Secondary and Entrepreneurship with both Day and Boarding facilities, marked its 10th anniversary on Tuesday 30th of July in Osogbo for positively impacting and building the coming generation of leaders in Osun State, Nigeria, Africa and world at large.

In his speech, Phoebestar CEO added that it is essential for parents and guardians to pay attention to the academic progress of their wards while paying the school fees.

In his words; “I want to use this opportunity to appeal to our parents that the training and upbringing of a child should not be exclusively preserved for the school alone. In addition to paying the school fees, tenacious parental attention to academic progress is essentially vital.

“I am not apologetic to say that some parents neither spare their time to go through the school newsletter nor check their children’s end of term results. Some do call to find out when the new term begins despite the fact that resumption is always indicated in the newsletter. Regrettably too, holidays’ assignments are never attended to by some students because their parents or guardians do not supervise them thoroughly at home. Rather, they leave their children in the hands of unqualified quack teachers, who still give them outrageous bills, while undermining the good works of the school. This is a dangerous development that could negate the gradual build up of knowledge base for the children.

“Therefore, we appeal to our esteemed parents to monitor their wards themselves whenever they are on holiday. Spend time also to observe the types of friends they keep, places they visit because be that as it may, some of these children pose much challenge to the school in terms of their level of indiscipline even though the school is on top of it.
When we launched ‘Operation Zero Tolerance ‘, we gave a pointer to the parents to take time to check their ward’s luggage before leaving home for school to ensure that contraband items such as mobile phones are not in their bags.”

He added that the school shall continue to make the necessary efforts to give the best of education to their students.

“The school shall continue to do all the needful at its own end to ensure that your wards get the best of education to become successful in life,” Fanu assured.

However, the Phoebestar Royalty Schools founder ascribed all glory to God Almighty for the protection and success recorded so far.

He congratulated the graduating students, noting that the school had produced numerous graduates who are currently making the school proud in their academic journey.

“Our mantra of academic excellence with integrity has yielded tremendous results which we hope will reform the entire academic process in Nigeria.

“One of our ex student was best graduating student at the Babcock University in 2019, many ex students have made first class results in their various universities including the 2024 graduation at Adeleke University, where an ex-student made first class in Computer Science.

“We are the only institution in Nigeria that has appeared back to back (2019 & 2020) at the finals of Channels TV Book Review Competition. We won several laurels at the National Arts Gallery/Chevron Arts competition and was best performance in Africa at the TOEFL examinations in 2018. We made top 5 among over 2,000 students shortlisted for the TVC/Female Network Debaters competition in 2023. All glory be to the Almighty God.

“Our students’ performance during external examinations have been exceptional, which reflects in their outstanding results”, Pheobestars CEO concluded.
