Osun staff audit : APC, PDP trade words
As the civil servants in Osun state are currently undergoing auditing exercise by the state government led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has stated that the exercise was an indication that Governor Ademola Adeleke has recorded another usual failure in his administration, saying it sympathised with the Osun civil servants in the way that they were treated by the consultant handling the audit exercise.
The state Chairman of the APC, Tajudeen Lawal, who made this known in Osogbo, on Friday, wondered why the state governor could not successfully conduct a staff audit, claimed that it was bungled because Adeleke is bereft of what is required to excel in the office as a governor.
According to him; “successive events at the corridor of power in Osun State from November 27, 2022 to date are pointers to the fact that Governor Adeleke has nothing to offer the state but he is only interested in the glamour of the office of the governor at the expense of the improved fortune of the state. A gentleman’s bond is his word. Has Governor Adeleke forgotten,,,,,that he promised to pay all the accumulated pensions, gratuities and salaries of pensioners and active workers within six months of his administration during the governorship campaign?
“It is worthwhile to make a remark that with the promise and fail attitude of Governor Adeleke to the request of the active government workers and the pensioners, the immediate-past Governor Gboyega Oyetola has been vindicated as it’s on record that the former governor would never promise what he wouldn’t be able to provide or achieve.”
While responding, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state has lashed out at the Osun APC, alleging that the party wants to use the minor disagreement to launch itself back into…..the reckoning of the people.
The PDP State Chairman, Sunday Bisi, stated that the APC’s sympathy was fake, adding that their record on civil servants’ management was replete with disaster.
While defending the governor, Bisi added that Adeleke is committed to improving the situation of workers in the state. He maintained that the PDP-led government will continue to pursue initiatives that will improve efficiency and accountability in the public service.
“The statement by the APC in Osun was the latest in the party’s deceptive plot to hoodwink workers into believing it actually cares for them. But the truth, which is well inherent in its record, is that historically, APC has never served the wellbeing of the civil servants, as the history of pains and anguish it had caused them over the years can never be forgotten.
“For the umpteenth time, the APC must stop pretending to be what it is not, because it can only deceive itself, not the ever intelligently vigilant workers….in Osun, who have suffered a series of inhuman treatment in its hand over the years.
“Osun people, and indeed, workers can tell of the genuine efforts that Governor Adeleke’s administration has put in place to improve the state’s workforce service delivery which the ongoing audit will also compliment.
,,,,,Recall that on Thursday, the civil servants in the state angrily abandoned the staff audit ordered by the Adeleke administration, complaining of the treatment meted out to them by the consultant engaged by the state government.
,,,,Meanwhile, in a swift reaction, the Governor later directed the state’s Head of Service to review the whole process and come up with recommendations that will being both workers and government into the same page on the matter.
