Amid insinuations that Force Headquarters were planning to investigate the mystery surrounding the death of a master’s student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Timothy Adegoke, the State Police Commissioner, Wale Olokode, said the autopsy would be conducted on the late student on Monday which is tomorrow.

Adegoke reportedly traveled to Osun State to take an exam at the OAU Distance Learning Center in Moro when he was reported missing on November 7.

The remains of the deceased were then reportedly evacuated from a forest along the Ede / Ife road by police. Six suspects believed to be staff at the Hilton Hotels and Resort, Ile-Ife, were arrested by police after an investigation found the late Adegoke visited the property before being carried faded away.

Olokode in an exclusive interview with news in Osogbo on Saturday rejected the claim that the Inspector General of Police had already ruled on the transfer of the case.

A security source told our correspondent that there were petitions demanding that the case be transferred to Abuja.

Olokode said: “The police headquarters are not dealing with the case. Anyway, if Headquarters wants to resume the investigation, I have no choice. Can’t say they shouldn’t take care of it, but no letter asking us to transfer the case.

We are continuing our investigation into the matter and assure everyone that the mystery will be solved.
“We had planned to do the autopsy on Friday, but the family of the deceased student said they would like an expert to represent them to observe the procedure. We were expecting them but we did not see them. That is why we have chosen Monday for the procedure. Without it, he would have been led. We will do our best to ensure that justice prevails.

Hotel owner and founder of Oduduwa University, Ramon Adedoyin, detained at the State Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, is also in police net in connection with the crime.
Meanwhile, the Oduduwa University Alumni Association pleaded with the police to uncover the truth about the incident that claimed Adegoke’s life and ensure justice is served.

A statement by the association titled “Hilton Hotels not Oduduwa University,” signed by Alumni President Olatunji Olayinka, obtained in Osogbo on Saturday, said the incident at the Hilton hotel did not happened at the varsity premises.
