Osun Police Killing: Eyewitness Reveals More Shocking Revelation

More revelation are coming out from the death of a drill operator that was killed by a police officer on Friday in Osogbo as an eyewitness confirmed that the victim did not engage in any argument with the police.

……Tension rented the atmosphere after the incident that occurred around 11:00am on Friday at Otaefun area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

…..The driver and drill operators were said to have been trying to fix the drill vehicle which broke down at a turning point of the road when the police who were allegedly chasing some internet fraudsters pulled up their vehicle and assaulted the deceased and his colleagues.

,,,,,,,Eyewitnesses said one of the policemen numbering six accosted the drill operator, slapped him three time and shot him in the chest. The drill operator, a Togolese who was simply identified as Kabiru aka mallam reportedly died on the spoke.

According to the report, immediately the police team found out that the drill operator was shot dead, they fled the scene of the incident to avoid reprisal attack from angry passersby who witnessed the incident.

…..The incident led to protest by irate youths in the area whom together with the deceased colleagues took the corpse to a nearby police station.

As revealed by an eyewitness, the police of the Otaefun division have deposited the corpse in an unnamed morgue in Osogbo.

…..One of the Police officers was however captured by some of the people around the area and handed over to the Ota-Efun Police station.

,,,,,The chairman of NURTW, Osogbo branch, Kazeem Oyewale aka Asiri-eniba led some of his members to the scene of the incident to douse the tension in order for the protest not to get out of hand.

Speaking, Oyewale said his intervention was to forestall break down of law and order, adding that the situation in the country is so sensitive that the youth cannot be left alone to vent their anger in such a situation.

….In the company of some policemen, the NURTW chairman supervised how the drill vehicle was fixed and finally moved away from the point where it broke down at exactly 7pm.

…..Though normalcy has since returned to the area, the people are calling on the Commissioner of Police to produce the culprit to face the full weight of the law.

….Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command, SP Yemisi Opalola did not yield any result as she was yet to pick calls as at the time of filing this report.
