Osun PDP will come out stronger after supreme Court judgement, says Adagunodo
By: Afeez Adebayo
The chairman of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in osun state, Hon Soji Adagunodo has said it with all affirmation that the party under his leadership will come out stronger and better following the party’s recent disappointment with the apex court ruling on the Osun governorship election that saw mandates given by the majority of Osun state to Sen Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke upturned by the highest court in the land based on the absence of a judge at the election petition Tribunal that heard the case.
It’s no doubt that the Osun State Governorship legal tussle has reached its finality, but it is forever going to remain cemented in the Nigeria’s democratic history book according to Adagunodo. “there is no single line in the majority judgement that affirmed Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola that said Sen Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke did not win the September 22nd 2018 governorship election in the state, but the judgement was based principally on the absence of the lead judge that read the judgement at the lower trial court in the case. This showed clearly that Osun people gave their mandates to PDP and Sen Adeleke at the ballots”.
Hon Adagunodo further affirmed that the folds of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the state is now brewing with confidence and effort to reposition the party to winning ways is now in the top gear as we begin a fresh journey to 2022 election. Speaking further, Adagunodo said “on behalf of the entire state working committee of our great party and all leaders in the state, we have unanimously agreed to work in tandem with our amiable senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as our party’s sole candidate for the 2022 gubernatorial election with undiluted cooperation with the Adelekes dynasty, for the overall interest of the good people of the state”.
The state chairman also pleaded to all members of the party and the leaders to put behind any form of misunderstandings in the past and urge them to forgive and forget anyone that might have offended them, so as to reunite, reignite and revitalize the party, describing this as the best way to uphold the trust of the overall majority the good people of the state has in our party.
The motion to formally declare no vacancy in osun PDP was then moved and seconded by Elder Peter Adebayo Babalola from Irewole local government and Alhaji Bamidele Bandy from Osogbo local government respectively. And all members of the PDP board of trustees (chief Ebenezer Babatope, Prof Wale Oladipo, Chief Mrs Erelu Olusola Obada, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, Sen Olu Alabi) from Osun state gave their full backing to the consensus agreement from the National working committee meeting held in Abuja.
The party’s big wigs across the state were fully on ground at the country home Ede, where the thanksgiving ceremony took place. Some of them are; The entire state working committee of the party led by Hon Olasoji Adagunodo, Hon Diran Odeyemi (Deputy National Publicity Secretary, PDP), Rev Bunmi Jenyo (southwest zonal secretary, PDP), Chief Abiola Ogundokun (first state chairman PDP), Elder Funsho Ishola, Baba Ajeigbe, Alhaji Ashifa Olarinde, Dr BT salam, Akogun Lere oyewumi, Elder Peter Babalola, Hon Gani Olaoluwa, prince Taliat Idowu Agbaje Star pool, Hon Kayode Oduoye Super Kay, Hon Akanfe Atidade, Hon Dr Morufu Adewale Adebayo Gangaria, Hon Akanni Olohunwa, Hon Soji Adetunji, Teslim Igbalaye, Adeleke women of substance, and other leaders too numerous to mention.
There were goodwill messages from leaders of the party across the Senatorial district which was all centered on the need for the party to unite, focus and work assiduously at all level to lead an insurmountable challenge to dislodge the ruling party; a party whose acceptance & credibility has waned completely among the good people of the state.
