OSUN OSOGBO 2019: OPUA To Host Culture Retreat As Selected Culture Promoters Bag Merit Awards In Osogbo

The Osogbo Peace and Unity Advocacy (OPUA) will tomorrow Thursday, 15th August, 2019 host the 2019 Culture Retreat in Osogbo to promote Yoruba cultural value in commemoration to ths year Osun Osogbo festival.

OPUA is an Osogbo oriented group propagating and promoting the peace and unity of Osogbo has concluded all arrangements on the 2019 Conferment of the Prestigious Culture Icon Merit Awards.

According to the Director of Publicity of the group, Comrade Mukhtar Ajelogbon who explained that public lecture is one of the major aspect of the retreat with the tittle “THE GRADUAL EXTINCTION OF THE YORUBA CULTURE; Rescue Model and Solution” to be delivered by Mrs. Adeola Adijat Faleye PhD of the department of Linguistics and African Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

The Ataoja of Osogbo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye ll is the Royal Host; High Cheif David Iyiola, the Babaloja General of Osun State as the Father of the day; the immediate past Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Titi Laoye-Tomori as Mother of the day; while Chief Gani Adams the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland is expected to be the Chairman of the occasion, and Evg. (Mrs) Maltilda Farinde will be the Chairperson among other eminent personalities.

Among the culture promoters to bag the Prestigious Culture Icon Merit Award 2019 includes; High Chief (Dr) Kayode Idowu Esuleke, Chief Akangbe Ogun, High Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, Chief Ifakayode Ifaniyi Agesinjaweifa, Chief (Mrs) Fausat Ogunremi, Prince Lukman Ayodeji Wahab (Sango of Africa), Omooba Adedeji Aladesawe (Oranmiyan 1), Chief Dr. Rauf Akinwale, Chief Ifasola Ogunjinmi, Aare (Dr) Ifagbenusola Atanda, and Chief Olaifa Olanrewaju.

The programme will commence at 10:00AM tomorrow Thursday 15th August, 2019 at Royal Spring Holiday Inn, Biket Area, Osogbo the Osun State capital at 10:00am.

The leadership of the group is reminding the invited dignitaries, and general public to honour the invitation as pure cultural display and entertainment would be of priority among other culture promoting programmes slated for the retreat.
