Osun NCRIB sensitises school pupils on Insurance as a career

The train of Western Area Committee of Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) Osun State Chapter landed at Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo on a career sensitization as part of the activities marking the 2024 Brokers Week.

The Chairman of NCRIB Western Area Committee, Mr Gafar Oladele Alamu led other members of the council on a visit to the School on Tuesday December 3rd 2024, to sensitize pupils on a mission to catch them young.

While speaking on the importance of Insurance as a career, Gafar highlights the roles of insurance Brokers in the insurance industry as an advise and motivation to students in the commercial class to choose insurance as their career/profession after.

In his words; “Due to the rate of unemployment in the country, the issue of where to work after graduation has become a serious problem plaguing the mind of our youths. The insurance industry can provide a life fulfilling career opportunity in its various arm of operation.

“Graduates of insurance could work in any of the following places:
1. Insurance companies
2. Insurance Broking firms
3. Loss adjusting firms
4. Marine surveying firms
5. Risk surveying firms
6. Insurance Departments of multinational companies
7. Insurance Departments of manufacturing companies
8. Insurance Trade associations
9. Insurance regulatory body
10. Ministries and Parastatals
11. Banks and Mortgage Institution
12. Lecturing in insurance and other financial subjects departments in tertiary institutions.

“Apart from the academic study of insurance in tertiary institutions, to become a professional, exams sre organized by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).”

He also schooled the young Nigerians on the appropriate subjects to study insurance as a course in the higher institution.

“JAMB subject combination to study Insurance are English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any one Social Science subject. Five (5) SSC credit passes required for admission into higher institutions. The subjects are English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any two (2) of Accounting, Commerce, Geography, Government, Statistics, Business Methods

“I assure that with the Nigerian economy growing rapidly and various industries emerging, the demand for insurance professionals is increasing. This obviously creates opportunities for you if you study insurance.
Wishing you best of luck in all your future endeavors.”


The Gafar led leadership of NCRIB Western Area Committee also distributed branded exercise books to the students in attendance.
