Osun inaugurates programme to tackle unemployment

Osun State government has inaugurated Public Workfare and Special Grant Transfer programmes under the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) to provide immediate labour intensive work opportunities for indigent unskilled youths and provide life-sustaining assistance for the aged and persons with disabilities respectively in the State.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the inauguration in Osogbo on Friday disclosed that the programmes are in tandem with the administration’s resolve to improve on the State’s extant social investment policy and it’s vision to give adequate attention to the welfare of the aged and people with disabilities across the State.

How to end insecurity – Gov. Oyetola

Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun on Wednesday said most of the crises across the world was as a result of disunity, poverty and ignorance which must be addressed in order to end the challenge of insecurity.

Oyetola stated this at the International Conference on the Biography of Prophet Muhammad organised by the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) in collaboration with Nusret Educational and Cultural Company and Hira Magazine in Ibadan.

He also said that government at all levels must be encouraged and supported by the people to ensure that they reduce poverty through empowerment and job creation.

Boost IGR collection, Osun Commissioner tasks Ministry workers

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in the State of Osun, Hon. Adebayo Adewole has tasked staff of the ministry to double their efforts in the area of revenue generation.

Adewole said this during the management meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry, State Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, the State capital. He also charged the management and staff of the Ministry to be open and transparent in the discharge of their official duties.

Collaborate with FG in fight against corruption, Oyetola tells accountants

The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola has called on accountants in the country to collaborate with the Federal Government in its bid to rid the nation of corruption and turn the economy around.

Oyetola made the call on Tuesday in Osogbo at the opening ceremony of the 6th Session of Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).

Osun to tackle developers of illegal structures

The government of the State of Osun is committed and ready to tackle developers of illegal structures in different parts of the State, says the Commissioner for Lands, Physical & Urban Planning, Hon. Agunbiade Nathaniel.

Nathaniel said the government’s decision followed the discovery of 3,500 illegal structures within the state capital, Osogbo, Egbedore and Olorunda local government areas, adding that the structures lack proper documentation and building plan.

Oyetola lauds accountants on contribution to national economy

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun has commended members of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) for their contributions to the nation’s economy. He also lauded members of the Association in Osun for their contributions to the State’s public service and the private establishments in the State.

He noted that ANAN is a strong stakeholder in the nation’s economy and charged members to continue to uphold standard and best practices so that the Association can continue to contribute meaningfully to the economy and compete with its national and international peers.

FG expresses readiness to partner Osun on mining devt

The Federal Government has expressed its readiness to partner Osun State Government in the development of the mining sector in the state. It also assured the state government of its commitment to collaborate with the relevant government agencies to ensure proper exploration of the mineral resources in the state.


This is even as the governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, appealed to the FG to allow full participation of states in the mining sector by moving mining matters from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List in order for states to also legislate on mining and related matters.
