Osun: Controversy Over Distribution Of Five Trailers of Federal Palliatives
In a development that has ignited a heated dispute, the Osun State Government has taken delivery of the initial batch of federal palliatives. The controversial delivery, which arrived on August 5th, 2023, consists of approximately five trailers laden with essential food supplies.
……According to reliable sources, the palliatives were provided by the federal government, presumably to alleviate the economic impact of recent challenges faced by the state. However, what was meant to be a relief effort has instead given rise to a fierce disagreement between the Ministry of Special Duties and the Commerce Ministry over the responsibility for overseeing the distribution of the provisions.
Insiders have revealed that the contentious issue has not only delayed the dissemination of the much-needed supplies but has also intensified tension between the two ministries. The heart of the disagreement seems to be a power struggle as both parties contend for control over the distribution process.
A confidential source with knowledge of the matter disclosed, “I can confirm that not less than five trailers have been delivered to the state. Though I cannot disclose the location of the warehouse for security reasons, I don’t know why it has not been disbursed.”
,,,,,In response to inquiries, Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, acknowledged the receipt of the federal aid. Rasheed offered reassurances that the state government intends to unveil its distribution strategy once the remaining shipments have been received. “Part of the palliatives were indeed delivered to the state, but we have not announced it because we are expecting the remaining ones. I can assure you that proper announcement and distribution would be made once the last batch is received,” Rasheed stated.
The delay in distribution has raised eyebrows among concerned citizens, who are questioning the transparency and efficiency of the relief efforts. As the dispute simmers, the public is left to wonder about the potential impact on those in need and whether the disagreement will be resolved promptly.
……The situation remains fluid as stakeholders anxiously await the resolution of the controversy.
The fate of the remaining palliatives and the manner in which they will eventually reach the hands of the residents hang in the balance, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and concern throughout Osun State.
