Osun APC Chairmanship Race; Salinsile drums support for West agenda, says party hierarchy should be just to party constitution

The State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Chief of Staff to Governor Aregbesola, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile has explained why the party should consider the chairmanship position to the West Senatorial District in the forthcoming State party Congress.

He called on the top hierarchy and elder caucus of the ruling party in the State to loot into the consideration in the spirit of equity and fairness.

According to the information made available to OSUN REPORTERS, the Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress disclosed the various intrigues characterising the upcoming State congress of the party.

Rasaq Salinsile explained the issue of major positions in both the government and the party has always been spread across the senatorial districts and that such practices is not restricted to Osun alone, but also obtainable at the federal level and across the states of the federation.

In fairness and justice, he made reference to the constitution which emphasizes that positions should not be concentrated somewhere but should be spread across the available geopolitical zones or district.

He explained, “the issue of Chairmanship, Governorship and Speakership are always rotated between the senatorial districts, the central has gotten the governorship, the east would have the speaker by our arrangement, the Chairman of the party and the Governor both come from same senatorial district (Central) as we speak; it is never done”. He concluded.

Salinsile made reference to the intrigues that happened during the last year’s gubernatorial primary of the party that produced Governor Gboyega Oyetola and how himself and the incumbent Chairman, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, were dismissed by their colleagues in the State Working Committee because of their resolve to work for the emergence of Oyetola as the flag bearer of the party. ”That is to tell you how much support I gave Governor Oyetola and APC in order to ensure our party remain united to fight the conservatives called PDP in the State.”

The embryonic party Chairman urged the people of Osun to critically look into the issue for justice to be manifested, he then thank God for the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the party at the Supreme Court.

Reaffirming the love of Osun west senatorial district for APC as a party, Governor Gboyega Oyetola and all the progressives forces in the State. “They should please not marginalise us, he added.

The Iwo born politician reacting to some party loyalists recommending him for the State party Chairmanship position, he said it was just a mere suggestion while consultation ongoing within the party as the leadership of the party has not endorse any candidate as we speak.
