Comrade Abdulrasaki Olanrewaju Ejalonibu, President of the Association of Mobile Telecommunication Engineers of Nigeria (AMTEN) Osun State chapter, has called on the Federal Government government to intervene in the ongoing challenges faced by citizens in linking their National Identification Number (NIN) to their mobile lines.

In an exclusive interview with Ejalonibu Media at his office, Comr. Ejalonibu appealed to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to find alternative solutions to the current online blocking of citizens’ lines. He emphasized that the current process is causing undue hardship and unnecessary expenses for individuals.

According to him; “The federal government should instruct the NCC to inform citizens through their line providers about the NIN linking process, rather than blocking their lines.

“This will prevent the additional burden of small-scale SIM reactivations, which often require users to pay ₦2000 before their lines are reactivated,” Comr. Ejalonibu stated.

He further urged the Minister of Information and Communication to take immediate action on the matter, emphasizing that the welfare of citizens is a critical aspect of democratic governance.

“Nigeria is facing numerous challenges, and it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that the welfare of citizens is protected. We appeal to the government to address this issue urgently,” Ejalonibu concluded.
