Osun Amotekun parades suspects, as commandant charges residents on vigilance

Some suspected rubbers, possession of counterfeit currency notes amongst other offenses were paraded in Osogbo the Osun State Capital on Monday by the State Commandant, Osun Amotekun Corps, Dr Adekunle Omoyele.

The Amotekun boss, who spoke during a parade at the headquarters of the command, called on residents in the state to be vigilant and be willing to volunteer information to assist security agencies to checkmate crimes in this ’ember’ months.

OsunReporters correspondent who was at the parade ground reported that the commandant said, “People should be very vigilant, if you see strange faces, do not be afraid to accost them or report. If you do these, they will know that you are vigilant.”

He stated that the agency is committed to strengthening the security apparatus in Osun State, emphasising that effective crime prevention, detection, and control is the responsibility of all. He also reassured residents of Osun State of maximum security for lives and property, while stating that all the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

A 30-year-old woman was paraded over alleged possession of counterfeit currency notes while seven other suspects were arrested for various offences.

Omoyele said that the command’s operatives acting on intelligence arrested the woman at Sabo market in Ilesa while using counterfeit N1000 notes to buy food, adding that the suspect when interrogated claimed to have received the fake naira notes from one a woman in Abuja, who sent it to her through a dispatch rider.


,,,,The Amotekun field commander said that the suspect alleged that she paid N50,000 for the N200,000 fake notes, noting that some other suspects were apprehended for offences which included; burglary and stealing; murder, motorcycle snatching, theft of transformer cables and attempted kidnapping.
