NUJ hosts Kwara North Senator, Sadiq Umar at 39th Media Parliament

The Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Abuja, Senator Sadiq Umar, is scheduled to feature as Guest Speaker at the 39th Media Parliament of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The event with the theme “Raising the Bar of Good Governance in Kwara North Through Effective Legislations” will hold on Tuesday, 12th of September, 2023 at NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin at 10am.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, the Chairman and Secretary of Kwara NUJ Media Parliament Committee, Fatimah Rasheed and Babajide Fadeyi respectively, said the theme was informed due to the recurring clamour for good governance and the need to offer a veritable platform for voices of the electorates to be heard.

It added that the forum would afford the two-term Legislator the opportunity to give his account of stewardship to the people of Kwara North and in a way provide a new vista for quality representation of his Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The statement further noted that the media parliament would avail the Guest Speaker a moment to interact with front-line media practitioners so as to, in turn, inform, enlighten and educate the citizenry as well as bridge the yawning information gap between the legislators and the electorates.

The statement urged NUJ members across chapels to prepare adequately for the event and attend promptly.
