Newborn abandoned baby found on church altar

A newborn baby was found abandoned on the altar at Holy Fountain Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Oda Road, Akure, Ondo State.

Church members were found to hear a baby cry as they entered the building in the early hours of Wednesday, November 24.

They found the newborn baby wrapped in green clothes and thrown on the altar by a person yet to be identified.

State Police Command spokeswoman Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said the baby was handed over to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Development.

The baby was initially in our care, but now we have turned the child over to officials from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. she added.
