N-POWER: Beneficiary Cries Out Over Irregularities, States Reasons Why Npower May crash Soon (read details)
One of the beneficiary of National Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria, N-Power, has cried out over some irregularities in the system.
The volunteer, Michael Uwancheize from Edo State, who lamented about nonpayment of monthly stipend of the beneficiaries as at when due, unavailability of electronic device among others.
Michael share this on social media to register his displeasure and called on the concerned authority to find immediate solution to the problems.
The notice reads; “Npower as one of the National Social Investment Programmes of the Federal Government of Nigeria is in shampoo. After about N200billion reported to have been expended on the scheme, it was discovered that so many rots have been plaguing the programme which made it difficult for the 2017 beneficiaries to get their Devices (Tablets and PC- like devices).
Therefore there is apprehension now in the hearts of the people who also can’t get paid their monthly Stipends as at when due.
“One of the questions to ask the Federal Government and those in charge of the scheme is that “why are you always struggling to pay the monthly stipends since the beginning of the year 2019?” It was reported in 2016 that N500 billion have saved in the National’s apex bank for the smooth running of the Programme. Until two months ago when they couldn’t pay the monthly stipends and the Vice President has to come out and said they were changing the funding of the programme from the Micro finance banks to the Central Bank of Nigeria. This statement alone shows something is phishing. Many did not believe us when we raise the alarm but today everyone knows there is something to care about.
“Another area of concern is that distribution of Npower Devices to the second batch of 2017 set. Up till date the beneficiaries have not been able to selected and get the devices they were promised. And the recent chat I had with the NPowerNG Office shew that we were not enough near the selection let alone the collection. We reasoned that since the saved fund for the scheme might have been looted or compromised, the Bank of Industry (BoI) which partnered the Scheme might have withdrawn its partnership and hence no stipulated date or assurance of when the devices will be given.
“Up till this moment , both batches of the Scheme, 2016 and 2017 have not been paid their July stipends.
And people were just kept in the dark as to what really going on. No updates no assurance. And if you can remembered when the Special Adviser to the President on the Social Investment Programmes, Mrs Maryam Uwais was responded to some questions in Balyesa last two weeks. She spoke on the readiness of the Beneficiaries to embrace some programmes of the Federal Government in the areas like Agricultural and loans disbursement. Her statement has however been been interpreted directly or indirectly as imminent end of the scheme.
“Lastly, we urge all Npower Beneficiaries to be ready for Nationwide protest to the injustice to the people they promised to support,” Michael concluded.
