Mourning As Three Powerful Nigerians Die Withing 24hours

Information reaching the OSUNREPORTERS NEWS has it that three prominent Nigerians have died Withing 24 hours.

Firstly, a former presidential candidate of the National Republican Convention (NRC) in the 1993 election, Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, is dead.

,,,,He reportedly died after a brief illness in the early hours of Monday at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

Tofa was born in June 20, 1947. In the 1993 presidential election, he contested against Moshood Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who was the presumed winner of the election.

…The Ibrahim Babangida military regime annulled the election, sparking nationwide protests.

Tofa was a businessman, an oil trader and industrialist. He was chairman of International Petro-Energy Company (IPEC) and Abba Othman and Sons ltd.

…During the Third Republic, he was part of the Liberal Movement which metamorphosed to Liberal Convention when it was not registered as a political party.

Meanwhile, another report has it that a renowned Nigerian singer, Joshua Olonitan, Popularly known as Slim Joe, is dead.

According to the report, he passed on after a prolonged battle with renal failure.

,,,,,His death was announced on January 1 by one of his friends and colleague, Raymond Gbaji, on Facebook.

….It was reported last year that the musician was battling organ failure.

,,,,,Slim Joe broke into the music industry after the release of his hit single ‘O ti Yan Yan.’ He released several singles under his personal imprint, Yan Yan records and featured major acts like Don Jazzy and Iyanya.

Former Nigerian Governor Dies

….In another development, the family of former military governor of Osun state, Colonel Anthony Uzoma Obi (rtd) has announced the his death in a statement on Monday morning.

…..The statement reads “We the Family of His Excellency, Rtd Colonel Anthony Uzoma Obi humbly announce the gentle passing of our Patriarch, and head of the family on Saturday, 1st of January 2022 by 6:03 PM.

“Our father was a Lion, a warrior, a brave soldier who served the Nation Nigeria as a Two Time Military Administrator and Governor of Osun State, and Abia State Nigeria.

“Anthony Uzoma Obi was a loving husband first, and a devoted father who instilled love, discipline, and humility in all he did on his time on earth.

“He shared with us a love deeply portrayed all through his life, and he most importantly was the bravest man we ever knew.

“We ask that in this time of our grief, that prayers and goodwill are directed towards our family in this trying moment.


“Adieu Colonel A. U. Obi, your whole family will forever keep your memory alive, through the mercy of God”.
