Man Arrested For Stealing Electric Wire in Osun

The operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps have apprehended a young Man Jimoh Sodiq, 20 years old, an indigene of Ikirun and residing in Sabo, Osogbo for stealing an electric aluminum wire at Sawmill Area, Ido-Osun in Egbedore Local Government, Osun State.

The suspect was arrested on Monday at Ido-Osun around 5:15 am by the operatives of Amotekun Egbedore Command who were on a routine patrol, he was caught in the act after using a plier to cut Aluminum Electric Wire on three electric poles in the saw-mill area Ido-Osun.

He confessed to the act and this is not the first time of perpetrated the same act by removing the cable of transformers and electric aluminum wire and selling it to his customer in another town he also mentioned four gang members, Saheed, Musibau, Boyee, and Wasiu who work with him to perpetrate the act, where they vandalize electric poles and carted away electrical aluminum wires found on the poles and they terrorize some areas in Osogbo, Ido-Osun, Cocoa Factory House Ede, Okinni, and Owode Community.

Confirming the arrest to the newsmen in Osogbo, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi asserted that the operatives of the corps arrested the suspect who specialized in stealing Transformer Cables and Electric Aluminum wires and sold them in another town.

“Upon preliminary investigation, he confessed to perpetrating the act and not the first time of perpetrating the crime and sold the stolen items to his customers in another town”. Adewinmbi said.


The suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
