A middle-aged man suspected of being a ritualist was set on fire in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.
Our correspondent learned that the suspect, whose name could not be determined, was killed and set on fire on Friday morning.

He was arrested by angry residents of Ashi, Bodija and Akobo for allegedly turning two students at Bashorun Ojoo High School into yam tubers.
The incident happened in front of the school.
Sources said the man was arrested when it was discovered he had turned the students into yam tubers.

All the efforts made by the inhabitants to convince him to turn them back have been in vain.
The man, according to sources who requested anonymity, was tied with ropes and questioned.

His inability to provide concrete answers made locals angry with him.
The suspect’s remains were then placed in front of the school fence.

Our correspondent, who visited the school a few minutes after the incident, found that the suspect’s remains were still lying in the same place.

In a video obtained by journalists, the man was tied with a rope with two yam tubers placed in front of him. It was not clear, however, if he had actually turned the students into tubers, as teachers at the school refused to comment on the incident.

None of the neighborhood residents were also ready to speak when our correspondent visited the neighborhood.
All efforts by journalists to elicit a reaction from state police command public relations officer Adewale Osifeso were also unsuccessful as several calls made via his cell phone were not answered.
