In response to the claims made by Senate President Akpabio regarding the disbursement of N30 billion to state governments by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to address food scarcity issues, Governor Makinde of Oyo State has reacted.

It would be recall that Senator Akpabio earlier stated that all 36 state governors received an additional N30 billion from FIRS to combat food shortages in the nation.

While refuting the claim during the unveiling of the Iseyin Central Mosque in Oyo State, Governor Makinde expressing disbelief at Akpabio’s statements. He questioned the validity of such claims, highlighting the unlikelihood of FIRS issuing funds directly to state governments, emphasizing that funds in the federation account are designated for the welfare of Nigerians, not for allocation to state governments. He urged for responsible governance during this crucial period, emphasizing the need to foster public confidence rather than incite political tension.
