LAUTECH staff declares indefinite strike over none payment of salaries
The Academic Staff Union of University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso chapter has embarked on an indefinite strike following the expiration of the ultimatum handed over to the owner states of Oyo and Osun to pay their three-month salary arrears.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities of the institution recently issued 10-day ultimatum, which would lapse on November 15th, to the University administration to pay their August, September and October salaries or face industrial action.
The union said it might resort to strike at the expiration of the ultimatum if the university fails to pay.
Academic staff of the University are being owed 11 months cumulatively.
Their latest position to down tools was contained in a congress resolution jointly signed by the chairman, Dr Biodun Olaniran and Secretary, Dr. Toyin Abegunrin which was made available to journalists in Ibadan.
The union also threatened to withhold the ‘rain semester’ results of 2018/2019 academic session until the salaries are paid.
The decision to boycott classrooms was reached at the congress of the union held on the campus on Monday.
According to Olaniran, the decision was reached after reviewing the situation regarding non-payment of three months salaries.
