Kelebe-Omu Land: Oluponna Of Osogbo Breaks Silence Over Planned One-week Protest, Reveals Latest Steps Taken By Govt, Nigerian Army
After a-day massive protest by the Kelebe-Omu Landowners Association against the flagrant disobedience to the Court judgment by the Nigerian Army to vacate Kelebe-Omu land situated at Osogbo and Olohunda local governments of Osun state, the Chairman of the landowners, Chief Amodu Akanbi has revealed the next line of action.
In a release signed by Chief Amodu Akanbi on Friday and made available to the OsunReporters News in Osogbo explained that the concerned 45 family compounds appreciated the role of Ataoja of Osogbo Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun (Larooye ll) before, during and after the protest to uphold the rule of law.
It could be recalled that some landowners under the aegis of Kelebe-Omu Landowners Association in Osogbo, staged a massive peaceful protest on Tuesday calling on Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja to Intervene on constant Disobey of court orders and harassment and intimidation by the Nigerian Army.
OsunReporters News earlier reported that the Osun State High Court sitting in Ile-Ife had in January, 2023 proclaimed that the land in dispute was the sole property of the land owners.
The release also acknowledged the timely response by the Osun state government to find a lasting solution to the matter.
While affirming the step taken by the Ede Construction Engineering Command of the Nigerian Army by its Commander, Brigedial General Abdulkareem who visited the Palace of Ataoja to explain the ongoing steps taken to get the federal consent on the matter, Amodu Akanbi however stated that planned one-week protest was put on hold for the main time to respect the authorities concerned who promised a quick positive response on the matter.

Chief Oluponna of Osogbo, however urged both the state and federal government to act fast on how to execute the court judgment before the landowners embark on a week-long massive protest in Osogbo.

“On behalf of the entire members of Kelebe-Omu Landowners Association, I, Chief Amodu Akanbi, the Chairman of Kelebe-Omu Landowners Association and Oluponna of Osogbo, appreciate our father, HRM, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye ll, Ataoja of Osogbo for his timely role and intervention in the struggle to effect the Court judgment in our favor on our land at Kelebe-Omu against the men of the Nigerian Army.
“I’m using this medium to inform the general public that Kelebe-Omu landowners will respect the intervention of Ataoja and quick response of the Commander Ede Command of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdulkareem who visited Ataoja palace for Clarification and steps taken to find solution to the matter and our ongoing one-week massive protest in Osogbo.
“We shall put the protest on hold while awaiting response from both the government and the headquarters of the Nigerian Army as promised.
“I hereby urge the authorities concerned to act fast before my people run out of patience which can make us embark on the suspended one week protest.
“Kelebe-Omu land belongs to us as mandated by the Court of law and nothing can change it.”
