JUST IN: Kaduna Govt Files Fresh Charges Against El-Zakzaky
After they were discharged and acquitted of an eight-count charge of alleged culpable homicide, disruption of public peace and unlawful Assembly among others by the Kaduna State High Court on Wednesday, the Kaduna State Government has again filed fresh charges against the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, OSUNREPORTERS NEWS gathered.
Speaking on the Matter on Thursday, counsel to the state government, Dari Bayero, said fresh charges have been filed against the IMN leader under the Treason and Treasonable Offences Act before a Federal High Court, adding that it was not in agreement with the reasoning and conclusion of Justice Kurada, noting that the government would appeal the case.
He said, “We are going to appeal, there is no doubt about it, in fact, we have obtained the court judgement because we are not in agreement with my Lord’s reasoning and conclusion, it is not in consonance with the facts on ground.
It could be recalled that the court ruled that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against the defendants as the presiding judge, Justice Gideon Kurada upheld the no-case submission filed by Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife in an alleged culpable homicide, unlawful assembly and disruption of public peace levelled against them by the Kaduna state government.
