IN THE INTEREST OF OSOGBO: An Open Letter To SRJ, Omo-oloore, Rasaki Adeosun, Sola Oladepo, Akande, Abolubode By Ajelogbon De-Moon

Our distinguished leaders and sons of Osogbo in the cabinet of Governor Oyetola IleriOluwa, it is my great concern to call your attention to the new benefit from the Federal Government to the state of the virtue.
Recently, the Federal Government of Nigeria approved the establishment of new Federal Colleges of Education across the six geopolitical zones of which Osun is the benefiting state in the Southwest.
As gathered from a reliable source, the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Dr Ajibola Basiru and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Fakeye from Ila Federal Constituencies respectively presented a bill for establishment of Federal College of Education in favour of the senatorial district.
While promoting the bill, the source revealed that, Hon Fakeye notified the house that in the entire southwest, only Lagos and Ogun has College of Education explaining further that out of the three senatorial districts in Osun State, only Central was left out without any Federal Institutions.
No doubt, Osogbo is endowed with eminent sons and daughters of which the writer and the addressees of this letter are part of them. Osogbo is looking forward to our Distinguished Senator Ajibola Basiru SRJ; Honourable Commissioner for environment, Sola Oladepo; Honourable Special Adviser on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rasaki Adeosun; Honourable Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Olalekan Badmus; Olorunda State Constituency, Hon Kunle Akande; and Osogbo State Constituency, Hon Taofeek Abolubode to work on how UNIOSUN multi-Campuses issue affecting the State capital could be resolved with the said Federal College of Education that has come to stay in Osun.
Let me remind you of how the then governor, the Prince of Okukuland deceived Osogbo with the creation of the university to get his reversed second term votes (you know more than I do). The time has come to work with Mr Governor on how to correct what Osogbo has being silently aiming at once and for all.
Sir(s), it was reliably gathered that the Federal College will absolve the existing State College in Ila-Orangun. However, using your good offices to heal an aged long wound for us and to place the current government in the good book of Osogbo by agitating for the siting of the Federal College of Education in Osogbo or better still be located at any of the UNIOSUN satellite campuses within the Central Senatorial District as agitated by the facilitators.
If the second option is possible, the said UNIOSUN campus will be replaced with the Federal College and relocate the UNIOSUN Campus to join the Osogbo main campus for us to at least have the partial feelings of a host to an higher institution.
Conclusively, this request may appears difficult but to my understanding I’m speaking the mind of an Osogbo born personified. How can a state capital exist without any higher institution but a glorified secondary school in terms of population and economic contribution to the host community.
Oroki a gbe wa o!
Yours faithfully,
✍
