IGP’s Wife, Egbetokun Empowers Osun POWA Members, Lauds CP Umar Abba
The working visit of the wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun to Osun State was significant and memorable to many widows of the fallen policemen across Osun.
The Thursday visitation was focused on empowering women at this period of economic meltdown in Nigeria, where Mrs Egbetokun led the distribution of different equipment and food item to empower about two-hundred widows of the fallen policemen and the less privileged in the State.
OsunReporters News gathered that Sewing Machines, Make-up Tools, Dryers, Cooking gas with big burners, hundreds of 25kg bags of rice, grinding machines among others were distributed at the State Police Headquarters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
In her address, Mrs Egbetokun explained that she is proud to represent the entire dedicated spouses of the nation’s law enforcement officers under the umbrella body of National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), noting that women of POWA are the unsung heroes behind the badge that provide unwavering support to their spouses as they uphold the law and protect the communities.
She also gave kudos to the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Abba Muhammed, for keeping the people of the state safe, charging him to continue his good work.
According to her “It’s with great pleasure that I am here before you today as the National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), representing the dedicated spouses of our nation’s law enforcement officers.
“As we embark on this working visit to the Osun State Police Command, I extend my warmest gratitude to the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command; CP Umar Abba Muhammed for hosting us.
“The women of POWA are the unsung heroes behind the badge, providing unwavering support to our spouses as they uphold the law and protect our communities.
“Our association serves as a vital network of support, fostering unity, resilience, and empowerment among police families nationwide.”
“CP Umar Abba Muhammed, your leadership is pivotal in ensuring the safety and security of Osun State, and we commend your tireless efforts in this regard. Together, we can further strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
“I look forward to fruitful discussions and partnerships that will benefit the brave men and women of the Osun State Police Command. Let us continue to stand united in our commitment to building safer, stronger, and more resilient communities,” she added.
Mrs Mariam Ibraheem Babangida, one of the beneficiaries expressed their deepest gratitude, thanking Mrs Egbetokun for the kind gesture.
She further promised to make good use of the equipment given to her, adding that it will go a long way in sustaining a good living for her and her children.
Osun zonal POWA Chairperson, wives of Osun Commissioner of Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police and other senior officers were in attendance.
