Ibadan explosion survivor narrates harrowing experience

…….Survivors of the explosion at Dejo Oyelese Street, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, claimed that the blast, resulting in loss of lives and property, was triggered by dynamite brought home by miners in the community.

,,,,,,Alhaji Mohammed, a survivor, recounted the harrowing experience, mentioning the futile attempt to use a fire extinguisher before realizing the danger of the dynamite.

Another survivor, Olaide, revealed that they were responding to a fire call when the explosion occurred, leaving many injured and some dead.

The explosion wreaked havoc, affecting at least 20 houses and damaging 15 vehicles, with ongoing search and rescue operations amid fears of trapped individuals under the rubble.

…..As rescue efforts continued, officials from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were on-site, investigating the explosive type responsible for the disaster.

Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal and the Oyo State government….called for calm, assuring residents that measures were in place to address the situation.

The government deployed security and emergency service chiefs to manage the aftermath.

……The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, emphasized collaboration with various agencies to determine the exact number of casualties, urging the public to await updates as investigations unfold.
