Husband who assaults wife, bites in-law’s breast appears in court

It was a devil-day drama for the people of Parirenyatwa Street when a 36-year-old man identified as Musengeyiwa, who resides at a flat along Samuel Parirenyatwa Street assaulted and biting his wife’s arm and breast at the height of a domestic dispute.

According to the report, the victim, who is a teacher appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nkosinomusa Ncube charged with physical abuse, facing charges of assaulting his wife with fists before biting her arm and breast at the height of a domestic dispute pleaded for leniency saying he was drunk when he committed the offence.

…..He was convicted on his own plea of guilty and was sentenced to pay a fine of 15 000 dollars and in default of payment will be sent to jail for four months.

……In mitigation, Musengeyiwa defended his actions, claiming he was heavily intoxicated when he committed the offense.

…..“I’m sorry your Worship, I hardly recall what really happened because I was drunk. I had been drinking alcohol all day such that it got the better of me,” pleaded Musengeyiwa.

…. In his ruling, the magistrate noted that he was a first offender who had shown contrition by pleading guilty to the charge.

….The wife narrated that on 20 July 2021 and at around 1:00am, Musengeyiwa arrived home and found his wife, Neprane Sweet of aged 34 sleeping in their bedroom with their minor child, he started shouting at his wife while accusing her of witchcraft. The seemingly infuriated wife asked him to stop making noise since it was going to wake up the child but Musengeyiwa continued shouting before he started assaulting his wife with fists all over the body.

…. While his wife’s younger sister tried to restrain him, Musengeyiwa went on to bite her on her right arm and right breast.

…..The matter was reported to the police leading to Musengeyiwa’s arrest and subsequent appearance in court.
