How Taxi Driver Lynched To Death By Motorcycle Riders
,,,,,A 30-year-old taxi driver, Fwimbe Thomas, was on Wednesday, September 27, lynched to d£ath by suspected motorcycle riders in Tudun Wada community in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.
According to residents of the area, the assailants claimed the driver brushed a commercial motorcycle with his taxi and in the heat of an argument that ensued, the men b€at the driver to death and left him lying in the pool of his blood.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, said the Commissioner of Police (CP), Okoro Julius, condemned the act in its totality and described it as unlawful.
“Sequel to a report of the incident by a credible informant on 25/09/2023 at about 2230hrs, the police patrol team attached to Anglo-Jos Division rushed to the scene of the cruel incident where they found the victim lying in a pool of his own blood beside a damaged Suzuki mini bus with Reg. No. KWK 536 XA, with multiple injuries on his head.
The victim is suspected to have been cruelly beaten to death by hoodlums suspected to be commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders, whose operation in Jos Metropolis/Bukuru Metropolis is illegal.
Photographs of the victim were taken, the vehicle was towed to the station and the body of the victim was taken to the Plateau Specialist Hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The corpse has been deposited in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
The CP wishes to inform residents and the public that efforts are on top gear to apprehend the k!llers of Mr Fwinbe Thomas. He appeals for calm as the police are already on top of the situation.” the statement read.
