How Father Loses Life Trying To Save Son From Well

It was a tragic incident when one Fasasi Afeez, tragically drowned while attempting to rescue his 12-year-old son from a domestic well in Offa town.

While confirming the incident, the Kwara State Fire Service Spokesperson, Hassan Adekunle, revealed that the incident occurred around 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Gaa Jangbo, Igbonna Road, in Offa local government area of the state.

The service howerver, successfully retrieved body of the 49-year-old man while the son was rescued alive.

According to Adekunle, the man’s son, Kaleed Afeez, fell into the well while fetching water. Despite Fasasi’s brave efforts to rescue his son before the arrival of fire servicemen, his legs slipped off the ground, leading to his own tragic fall into the well.

“On February 22, 2024, a man of about 49 years old, Mr. Fasasi Afeez, and his son Kaleed Afeez of Gaa Jangbo, Igbonna Road, Offa, Offa local government area, Kwara state, fell into a domestic well, and we recovered the father dead while we were able to rescue the son alive at New Maselu Village, Offa.

“The Brigade was alerted to the incident through a phone call from Alhaji Taiye Gbadamosi, a resident in the neighborhood, around 4:11 PM. The firemen promptly responded, recovering the lifeless body of the father and successfully rescuing the son from the well. The body was later handed over to one of the family members,” the statement added.
