Group Chides Akere over Osun APC guber ticket zoning demand

Osun Progressive Youth has described the statement credited to a former Osun Information Commissioner about zoning the governorship ticket to a particular senatorial zone has being undemocratic, self-serving and fails to represent the interest and wishes of leaders and members of the party.

In a statement released by Oladele Oladejo, the State Cordinator of the group, he said such statement isn’t expected from someone who is supposed to know better how party politics works. Having previously said something of such nature and nobody particularly took him seriously, he had to say it again to satisfy his co-travellers. Aside the fact that he lacks the capacity to speak for the party, his position also negates the principles of fairness and the ideals of inclusivity on which the All Progressives Congress was formed and thrives.

Such unauthorized actions and utterances from Mr. Sunday Akere, a self assumed political leader, are capable of causing disunity among party faithfuls and must be warned to desist from it before it degenerates into intra-party issues.

It is known that Mr. Akere is working for his fellow former ADP members who recently joined the party. It is however unethical of him to be hiding behind Mr. Gboyega Oyetola’s name unwarrantedly as a shield for sinister moves in the party. He should be called to order before he soils the good name of the former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

He further said, in as much as the 2026 election is still relatively far, the group enjoins Mr. Akere to stop assuming the roles of the party’s spokesperson and focus on how to how to brighten the chances of the party in the state and especially in Boluwaduro Local Government where he comes from so the party can have a better result in his country home in the subsequent election.
