Gov Makinde talks tough on Oriyomi, Naomi’s Arrest, as court fixes date for bail application

The Ibadan stamdpede incident which killed 35 innocent children has taken another dimension, as Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde ssid the organisers of event in Ibadan stampede which claimed about 35 children must face trail, even as people are reaching out to him that Anambra and FCT did not make any arrest over similar matters

Makinde explained that, “35 innocent children died at the funfair stamp£de. The organizers must go on trial.

“A lot of people have been reaching out to me that Anambra and FCT did not make any arrest when the same inc!dent happened there.

“This is Oyo State. Even if Nigeria does not follow the rule of law, we shall uphold the rule of law. If the court thinks they can go on bail pending trial, I have nothing against it but they will surely go on trial.

“Justice must be served for those children.”

At the time of filing this report, the arrested people in connection to the incident were still in detention.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has fixed January 13 to rule on the bail application of ex-Queen of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, Oriyomi Hazmat and Abdullahi Fasasi.

Justice K. B Olawoyin fixed the date while presiding over Tuesday’s hearing.

Naomi, Hazmat who is the proprietor of an Ibadan based radio station, Agidigbo FM, and Fasasi who is the Principal, Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan were arrested following a stampede in December.

Over 35 people died during the stampede for food in Ibadan in December.

Counsels to the accuseds’ had filed a summon of application for bail before the Court.

Justice Olawoyin after listening to the submission and arguments of the Counsels, adjourned the ruling on the bail application till Tuesday, 13th Tuesday, 2025.

The suspects are currently being remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre Agodi
