Ghana president scraps seven ministries to cut cost (Full List)
To reduce the cost of governance in the country, Ghana’s President John Mahama has reduced the number of ministries in the country from 30 to 23.
According to reports, the change was formalized through an executive order and published in a gazette on January 9, two days after he assumed office.
The affected ministries include; Information; Sanitation and Water Resources; National Security; Railway d?Development; Parliamentary a
Affairs; Public Enterprises, and Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs that were previously established during the tenure of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
However, the revised structure retains key ministries such as finance, health, education, defence, and energy.
Additionally, the restructured government now includes ministries focused on green transition, digital technology, youth empowerment, and creative arts, among others.

Mahama, who was president from 2012 to 2017, returned to power after defeating former Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia in the December presidential elections. He secured 56.55% of the votes, while Bawumia gained 41.6%. The winner was known before the official results were released.
