Foreign Clubs Honour Late Nigeria Footballer, Isaac Promise After His Burial Was Neglected By NFF, Ex-teammates (photos)
After the demise of Nigerian footballer who won the silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Isaac Promise who died of a heart attack on 2 October 2019 at age 31.
He played professionally for 14 seasons, much of which was spent in Turkey, scored a total of 77 club goals during his career.
Promise was named as the captain of the Nigeria under-23 squad for the 2008 Summer Olympics, being held in China. On 13 August 2008 at Tianjin Olympic Center in Tianjin, he scored Nigeria’s first goal against the United States in the preliminary stage, Nigeria went ahead to win the match by 2–1.
Late Isaac was also the captain of the silver winning Nigerian Flying Eagles team to the 2005 U-20 World Cup in Netherlands, a competition that produced the likes of Mikel Obi, Obasi and Taye Taiwo.
Promise first appeared on the Super Eagles for Nigeria in 2009. He earned 3 caps, and scored one goal. Isaac was buried on the 9th of January 2019,
without any representative of Nigeria footballing community, not even his own colleagues at the time.
It was gathered that foreign clubs in England honoured late Isaac Promise in some of their public football matches.
