EFCC Raids Radio Station During Live Broadcast, Arrests Presenters, Seizes Equipment
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly raided one of the popular radio stations in Enugu State, Urban 94.5FM.
According to reports, operatives of the commission stormed the station around 6:00pm on Monday, halted live broadcast, detained presenters and seized equipment worth millions.
Reports further revealed that a broadcaster, Favour Ekoh, was reported to have been forcefully removed from a live programme on Urban Radio, causing significant disruption and raising concerns about press freedom.
According to a statement issued on Monday night by the management of the Radio Station, the station management were shocked as the EFCC was yet to give any official statement why their staff were abducted and equipment seized.
Efforts by newsmen to speak with the EFCC’s Head Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale were unsuccessful as he did not take his calls.
At the time of filing this report, he had yet to respond to a text message seeking his comment while EFCC is yet to issue any official statement why its officials stormed the radio station.(SaharaReporters)
