Drama as Herdsmen, cows lock horns, die in Idoo, Osun State
It was a dramatic turn of event when not less than fifteen (15) cows reportedly died on Monday, from the camp of Fulani herdsmen at Idoo, a community behind Awo in Egbedore local government area of Osun State.
According to the report made available to OsunReporters News by Sesan Adeleke, the fearful incident occurred at Adoo of Idoo, Oba Samuel Durojaye’s farmstead when the cows suddenly went mad, locking horns with one another and the herders rearing them.
The herdsmen were said to scamper to safety of their lives when they could not control what was described as unexpected, shocking and fearful occurence, and the herds engaged themselves until fifteen were finally weakened and eventually died.
An eyewitness who is a resident of the sleeping community, Mr. Seun Olutayo described the incident as dramatic as nobody was able to stay back to control the mad cows while the dramatic scenario lasted.
Olutayo added that nobody could actually ascertain what happened to the cows, as there was neither storm nor rainfall when the incident occurred.
Feelers from the town are of the opinion that the foreign investors had been driven away by the incessant invasion of farmers crops by the Fulani herdsmen in the area.
It was claimed that the investors are always afraid of farmers/herdsmen crisis that could break up anytime wherever herdsmen rearing is constant.
The Adoo of Idoo, Oba Samuel Durojaye could not be reached, as palace source confirmed that he travelled to the Eastern Part of Nigeria, and his phones were switched off, as at the time of filing in this report.
Another villager who craved anonymity confided in this reporter that the dead cows were instantly packed and transported to Ajase-Ipo, kwara State, where it was allegedly sold.
In the meantime, Barrister Seyi Oyagbile who stumbled on the scene also said that the incident was very difficult to believe if not that he actually witnessed it, by accident, with his very eyes.
In his words, Barrister Oyagbile maintained that the most amazing aspect of it was that the dead cows were immediately packed and taken away from the scene of the incident.
Efforts to speak to the Fulani herdsmen in the area proved abortive as they could not be seen or reached while the visit to the scene of the incident lasted.
