Disquiet In Osun Poly Over Ambition Of Detained Adeleke’s Aide To Become SUG President

One if the Governor Ademola Adeleke’s aides, Mr. Olalekan Ajagungbade, who is currently in detention with the police, is seeking to run for the president of the Students Union Government (SUG) of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir, who is a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), was arrested two months ago by the Nigerian Police and charged to court.

Sources revealed that, Emir, an HND II student of the Department of Mass Communication in the Polytechnic, has launched an online campaign through the Progressive Hope Party, a political group within the institution.

According to reports, the Governor’s aide’s campaign is headed by one Adekunle Sikiru, and its director of media, Adepoju Philip as various promotional materials, including faze caps and other campaign materials, have been distributed across the institution to raise awareness for Olalekan’s aspiration.

The source anonymously reveal that the school management had directed the continuous sale of forms for would be aspirants in the election after the deadline had elapsed, a move sources in the Polytechnic believed was orchestrated by the state government to install him as the head of the institution’s student union.

Ajagungbade is a member of the transport disciplinary committee appointed on January 9, 2023 by Governor Adeleke.

Information also revealed that the Court case involving Emir was still ongoing at the time of filing this report.

 


However, some concerns students have forwarded a petition against governor Adeleke and the school management accusing them of working to impose president on the entire students of the institution.
